Canada Research Chairs announced

Canada Research Chairs Amir Fam, Cao Thang Dinh, and Bhavin Shastri

Queen’s announces 16 new and renewed Canada Research Chairs, part of a federal program recognizing research leaders at Canadian universities. Among the group were three professors with ties to NFK:

Dr. Amir Fam (Civil Engineering), Tier 1 CRC in Climate Change Resilient Infrastructure. Dr. Fam has been a member of NFK’s Advisory Board since 2016.

Dr. Cao Thang Dinh (Chemical Engineering), Tier 2 CRC in Sustainable Fuels and Chemicals. Dr. Dinh uses PVD metals on porous supports for catalytic reactors to convert CO2 to useful chemical products.

Dr. Bhavin Shastri (Physics, Engineering Physics, and Astronomy), Tier 2 CRC in Neuromorphic Photonic Computing. Dr. Shastri fabricates photonic chips to investigate computing based on neuromorphic networks for AI and quantum applications.
